How to record and store customer measurements

Short answer. Record measurements on the customer’s record with the unit, the date taken and notes about how they like the fit, and copy the measurements used onto each order. Re-check them when a customer returns after a long gap. Atelier Elite stores a measurement set on each customer, keeps the measurements used on every order in inches or centimetres, and shows them to the staff member assigned to the work.

What to record

Measure the same way every time

  1. Use one measuring order and one unit for the whole shop.
  2. Write each value as you take it; do not rely on memory.
  3. Read the numbers back to the customer or a colleague.
  4. Note anything unusual, such as one shoulder lower than the other.

Measurement book or app?

A measurement book is simple and works without a phone, but it lives in one place, cannot be searched and is easy to lose or damage. An app keeps measurements with the customer and the order, searchable by name or phone, and available to whoever is stitching the garment.

Keep measurements current

Bodies change. Re-measure before important garments such as bridal wear, and when a customer returns after many months. Keep the measurements used on each past order, so a repeat order can match the fit the customer liked.

Where Atelier Elite fits

In Atelier Elite each customer has a measurement set, and each order keeps the measurements used for that garment in inches or centimetres, alongside design reference photos, fabric, dates and price. With the optional staff sign-in, staff see the garment, measurements and notes for their own work, never prices or payments.

Plans are Starter ₹499, Growth ₹999 and Elite ₹1,999 a month. Every new boutique account gets one 14-day free trial and can try any plan during it.
